Resume Submission Tips
Every application should include the following items:
Include a cover letter that clearly states what position you are applying for.
This is your one page opportunity to stick out from other applicants. (Helpful
hint: We’re sticklers when it comes to format and content – please
make sure you spell-check and read over your cover letter before sending
it! We’ve received some really great stuff, even people who forgot
to swap out a different developer’s name first! Don’t be that
guy!)
Include a resume that contains the following minimum information:
-
Contact Information: Your full name, address, phone number
and e-mail where you can be reached.
-
Objective: What position you are applying for? What are
your goals for the job?
-
Work Experience: A summary of your work history, when
you were hired and left, your job title and a description
of your responsibilities.
-
Skills: What are you most proficient in? (3ds max, C++,
Lightwave, etc.)
-
Education: Include information about diplomas, degrees
or certifications.
-
References: Two or three references.
We prefer e-mail submissions that include website links and/or compressed e-mail
attachments. Standard mail submissions are also welcome, but please note
that we will not be able to evaluate them as quickly. After you submit your
portfolio and/or reel, if we like what we see, we'll contact you to take
a short Art Test that will help us get a sense of your art style, timeliness,
and creativity.
If you would like to send your portfolio and/or reel to us via standard mail,
please only send material on NTSC-based VHS tapes and/or CD-ROM only. Please
be sure to clealy label either with your name and what position you're applying
for. We will make an attempt to view your work in other formats if necessary,
but this may delay your application. For CD-ROM submissions, please label
what codec (DivX, QuickTime, et al.) you used to encode your video footage.
When submitting a demo reel, we require a document
that breaks down what your role was in each scene. Describe what you
did in the footage in as great a detail as possible -- if you created
the entire sequence (from the modeling, to texturing, skinning, lighting
and animation) let us know that.
If you would like to submit physical samples of your work, please send color
copies. Do not send originals, as we will not be able to return them! Scanning
your work into bitmaps and putting them on CD-ROM is preferred.
We only require a cover letter and resume for programmers. Feel free to include
any sample work; it can only help to separate you from others. Junior programmer
candidates: We receive a lot of interest in these positions, and including
any mod work or programming samples are highly encouraged.
We only require a cover letter and resume for designers. Based on these items,
we may contact you to take a short Design Test that helps us get a feel for
your creativity, timeliness, and ability.
Please note, we cannot return any materials that are submitted to us. Always
send copies of your work, never the originals.
